Gala feedback positiveFeedback and comments have generally been positive following the annual Summer Gala say organisers, as they strive to improve the running of the popular event, Provisional profit for the event could exceed $35,000 – a testament to the community support and the more than 100 volunteers who contribute to the day. The Domain committee hopes to keep stallholder costs stable in the short term, and in future there will be a formal closing time of 2.30pm. “A challenge for the committee has been how to accommodate the on-site food and drink requirements as we realise the changing tastes of the community, the size of the event and the fact that a reasonable proportion of our incomes derived from the many volunteers manning our cafe and BBQ,” says domain committee member John Dickie. “This year we successfully trialed private food and drink outlets and an expansion on this, and changes to our cafe and BBQ, will occur in 2014.” Service providers are looking for solutions to mobile phone and EFTPOS services that have been particularly poor in Mangawhai over the Christmas and New Year period due to sudden high demand. Now close to its 40th year, organisers are still seeking records from early gala days to get some exact dates and would appreciate hearing from those with any historical information. Community and commercial comments and suggestions for the next gala can be sent to mangawhaigala@gmail.com. |
