Celtic trio not to be missedWhen folk trio Other Roads first performed around the North Island in 2014, it was as complete unknowns – this time things will be different.
One of the UK’s finest contemporary folk trios will be making a happy return to the Coronation Hall in Waipu in early February. Last year they stunned every audience with their songs and humour. As the word spread, concerts in Whangarei, Palmerston North and Wellington completely sold out. Band members Gregor Borland, Pete Abbott and Dave Walmisley draw upon their diverse backgrounds in Scotland, England and Africa to create an exciting and original sound. The talented multi-instrumentalists incorporate fiddle, bouzouki, guitars, mandolin and even harmonica with fine harmony singing. Their eclectic mix of older and original compositions range from soft ballads to high tempo Celtic fiddle tunes and choruses. Expert musicianship, infectious enthusiasm and humour are guaranteed to entertain. They have developed their own unique identity, combining many new self-penned and carefully chosen songs from other writers. With five albums already to their name, and tours established in the UK, Germany, Holland, Spain and Denmark, we can expect Other Roads plan to delight audiences near and far for years to come. n Other Roads in concert at the Waipu Coronation Hall, Saturday February 7, 4pm. Tickets $15 through Evenfinder or at the door. <<ends>> TOP TALENT: Multi-instrumentalists Other Roads return to Waipu. |
