Tomarata School takes up Try ChallengeBY COLE COSTELLO AND CHARLIE GRAY / TOMARATA SCHOOL STUDENTS 11 July, 2022
On June 23 Tomarata School hosted a Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids Try Challenge, and we invited Pakiri School to join us. Pat from Harbour Sport organised for the school to have the opportunity and gave directions for the Weet-Bix group to get to Tomarata. We had a tough obstacle course – there was a massive bouncy obstacle that we all clambered through – and it was a physical challenge on our bodies. Our (school) Houses are Kereru, Kea, Kiwi and Kakapo, and we had House points for every circuit we completed, so the challenge was on! One of the teachers from Tomarata School asked (or bribed) Pakiri School to go for Kereru House, and Kereru won! It was an amazing opportunity for our small rural school as the Try Challenge is only going to 17 schools. There are many bigger schools, but we were chosen. The event was tough for Tomarata students, challenging our stamina and growth mindset, but we all had lots of fun and want to thank the supporters of the Weet-Bix Try Challenge. PHOTOS/SUPPLIED |
