Rodney take out netball challengeRodney College Netball Team 1 has won the annual Rodney District Secondary School Challenge for the first time.
Held every Monday night for four weeks at the Rodney Netball Centre, the Rodney girls came up against Otamatea, Dargaville and Ruawai high schools, winning all of their games. The decider was played against a determined Ruawai but they couldn’t match it with the stronger more consistent Rodney outfit who ran out winners by 47-36. “The battle between the two teams was intense and the girls were on edge,” said Rodney captain Renee de Thierry. “This is a huge accomplishment for the girls.” Rodney players Natasha Thrasyvoulou, Rebecca Simmonds and Aana Carter were selected by the opposing teams as players of the day over the challenge.
