Mangawhai needs your vote for NZ Roast DayA recent arrival in Mangawhai is foodie and TV personality Leigh Hart who has been quick to adopt a community spirit.
August 3 is Selaks New Zealand Roast Day 2014, and this year Selaks has enlisted three celebrities to help cook up a roast storm to celebrate. Shane Cortese, Leah Panapa and Leight Hart have lent their own recipes to the celebrity cook-off. The winning entry, according to public vote, will earn $5000 for their preferred charity. Hart has chosen to represent Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifegurad Service and his somewhat unique roast and probably a New Zealand first is lamb roast with pork crackling, slow-roasted tomatoes, honey-glazed carrots and smashed potatoes. His competition is Leah Panapa's roast chicken with couscous and kumara salad, and Shane Cortese's roast pork chops and veggies. This is also a landmark year for Selaks Wines as it celebrates both its 80th anniversary and the fifth year of connecting Kiwis with the family-focused meal. Leigh had his nose in front a cou-ple of weeks ago but with over 6,000 votes counted Leah has just taken the lead. But there is still some way to go so check out his recipe and cast your vote by going to selaksnzroastday.co.nz. |
