Community contribution rewarded

Retiring Maungaturoto and Districts Rotary Club president Eileen Parsons, QSM, is delighted to reward a surprised David Prankerd (pictured) of Mangawhai with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow, recognising his outstanding commitment to the Club and community.

Mangawhai’s Eric Parsons, along with Colin Smith and Albie Paton (a non-member) of Maungaturoto were also presented the award at the changeover meeting on July 1.

A founding member of the club, Colin Smith also received a second sapphire to his existing PHF pin.

Eileen Parsons is to be succeeded as president by Jim Taylor, a former general manager of Auckland’s Yellow Bus Company now retired and living near Mangawhai. Jim has a long association with Rotary and aims to raise the profile of the club and increase membership.
