Growing Interest in social golf
Even as non-golfers we are all aware of the deeds of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and recent Kiwi phenomenon Lydia Ko, but don’t let their amazing ability put you off from joining the crowds in pursuit of the little white ball.
Mangawhai has one of the best-rated country courses in New Zealand. It has a high rate of weekend and holiday visitors and it has long pleasant summer evenings when few places offer the solace, camaraderie and exercise as a quiet round of golf. Why not give it a try? The Mangawhai Club is getting non-golfers into golf. It has a growing novice membership and offers coaching for newcomers that won’t stretch your purse strings or put any demands on your precious time. For just one hour, first Sunday of every month from 10am, a relaxing 12 sessions and you’re all set to move into game play. Community activities and all sorts of events emanate from our golf club. It’s a great networking opportunity. Mike McGarry of A1 Coastal Real Estate is the sponsor of the coaching school run under the watchful eye of qualified professional coach Terry Young. Look, fellas – and girls – don’t let age be an excuse or a deterrent. Just $495 covers that first year with the result being exercise, enjoyment and an open-air activity – and possibly the revalation that you’re not too bad at this game after all.
It’s as strenuous as you want to make it be it 9, 18 or a competition 36 holes. Days are shorter now but it’s a great mid-week after work activity.
