Local event inspires women in businessA new business called One Oh Nine StartUp, which offers mentoring and support to local female entrepreneurs launched at Bennetts of Mangawhai at the end of May.
The event included talks from founder Carol Brown, Tash Ujdur from One Oh Nine Events, Anna Clearwater of local coffee cart Rise and Grind, and special guest speaker and blogger Hannah Horton, founder of Metro top 50 Auckland restaurant Mondays. Carol says: “Mangawhai is full of creative, business-savvy and inspirational women and my heart is to help support them as best I can using the skills and experiences I’ve been fortunate to pick up along my career journey.” Through her 20 year career in IT and consumer electronics, local Mangawhai resident Carol has gained extensive experience in all aspects of business. After two years of being sponsored into Senior Women in Leadership courses, the passion to give back was ignited. “Our mission for One Oh Nine StartUp is simply to help people, especially women, start up or grow their business – whatever that support may look like,” says Carol. “We offer a range of services from mentoring and coaching through to practical help in the form of grants to cover website builds, marketing collateral and business accounting costs.” One Oh Nine has an authentic approach to helping locals succeed in business and Carol and her team are especially passionate about seeing dreams come to life for people who have been hesitant or afraid to step out on their own. All profits are invested back into the business for One Oh Nine StartUp to bring to life more inspiring ideas and businesses in the area.
