Whangarei and Kaipara districts get access to zero-markup electricityEnergyclubnz’s electricity-at-cost service is now available to customers in the Whangarei and Kaipara districts on the Northpower network. The disruptive digital electricity business launched in October last year and has rapidly expanded across New Zealand. This recent expansion brings zero-markup electricity to 92 per cent of the country’s residential smart meters, including Whangarei, Dargaville and Mangawhai. CEO and founder David Goadby established the business to help Kiwi households reduce their electricity costs. “We’re all about getting the best deals for our customers. Unlike big electricity companies, we do not make any money if you and your family use more power. So it’s in our interests to help customers use less and save more.” Energyclubnz customers are typically seeing savings between 8 and 13 per cent compared to their existing energy provider. “The first thing any household should do to save money on their electricity bill is switch providers. If you have never switched you have typically got the most to save.” Instead of monthly billing, energyclubnz customers pay a small weekly club fee. This gives the customer at-cost electricity via energyclubnz’s everyday low rates without any risk of spot pricing. “The weekly club fee simplifies what is traditionally a really complicated billing process. Customer feedback about our weekly email billing, with automatic payments, suggests Kiwis love being aware of how much they are using and having the ability to really manage their power consumption,” says Goadby. News website Stuff joined forces with Goadby to establish the electricity retailer in October, acquiring a 49 per cent share of the business. “Partnering with energyclubnz is one of the steps we have taken to help our communities connect and thrive,” says Stuff CEO Sinead Boucher. “Our strategy is to partner with businesses that Kiwis will truly value and we believe this product is designed to give people a fairer deal on their energy costs.” Prospective customers can use the bill comparison tool at energyclubnz.com to find out how much they could save each year and sign up. |
