According to one local there are more volunteers in Mangawhai per head of population than anywhere else in New Zealand.

The financial year for the Kaipara District Council comes to a close at the end of this month.

In a financial sense Commissioners expect: „ A sound operating result, with a small surplus being generated for the second year in succession. Expenditure is being tightly controlled. The years of substantial losses are behind us.

Following the heats of Smoke-freerockquest Northland a fort-night ago, local schools have emerged with a good chance of making it to the nationals and even possibly beyond.
 

Having moved to a five acre Dairy Flat property to accommodate the exercise requirements of their four large dogs, Ann and Dan Wright wanted to install automatic gates at the driveway entrance but could find nothing that suited.

 

Dog attacks are uncommon in our area but a dog-on-dog attack that took place recently near Waipu has left Auckland visitors looking for accountability by reckless owners, and more help from animal control agencies.

A Hillary training weekend was held at Tangihua Outdoor Lodge at the end of May with all the levels – Bronze, Silver and Gold – working towards gaining skills in the outdoors to help them prepare for their upcoming tramping expeditions.
