Domain upgrade attracts eager kidsPlayground improvements at the Domain have resulted in an upsurge of visitors and activity.
Some parts of the playground were no longer working or had reached their ‘use-by’ date so the Domain Committee has replaced them with new stepping stones, gladiator rings and a track ride, plus a new cargo chain net has filled an existing gap. “The improvements cost $12,000, half of which came from a grant from the Mangawhai Endowment Lands Account and for which we are very grateful,” says committee member Jo Yuretich. The other the half was paid by the Domain from proceeds generated from the annual gala. The facilities are being enjoyed by the children at Mainly Music, Mangawhai Football Club and the general public. Some shade trees have also been planted to help improve the area both aesthetically and visually. The Domain Committee is a small group that welcome new members and ideas towards further utilisation of this popular area which include major activities such as sports, the summer markets and the annual gala. The Domain AGM will be held in the next month or so which is a good time to become involved in prominent community activities. |
