KDC: lodge building consents onlineKaipara District Council building consent applications are now only a click of a mouse away.
Since June 1, 2014, building consent applications can be lodged on-line via the council’s website. The new system will deliver efficiency gains for both council and the regular users of coun-cil’s building consent services. Fran Mikulicic, general manager Regulatory and District Planning, says that once the sys-tem is set up, regular users will be able to lodge an application in 10 minutes as the system remembers their details and prefills many parts of the application form. Council hopes to receive a large number of its applications via the new online system and is encouraging as many customers as possible to do this. An over-the-counter service will still be available for those who wish to do it this way. “The Government is constantly lifting the bar for building standards. The introduction of a new electronic consent application and processing system will help both council and applicants respond to these chang-es and improve the efficiency of the service we are able to provide,” says Ms Mikulicic. The on-line concept received an enthusiastic ‘thumbs up’ on May 27 from a workshop at Kaiwaka attended by more than 40 clients, including franchise and independent builders, planners and architects from around the district, all of whom have previously lodged building consents with council. To lodge an application online, go to KDC's website www.kaipara. govt.nz and click Online Services, then Lodging Building Consents. Council staff will process the application to check it complies with the requirements and will communicate via email, attaching this communication automatically to your electronic file. |
