Competition win gets renovation ball rollingA Kaiwaka sharemilking couple is one step closer to achieving their dream home with the win of a flash new gas hot water heater.
The new Rinnai appliance will be the first to kick off renovations of Catherine Moore and her husband Jacques Lenoir’s new property. “The house we’ve bought really needs work – when I first walked into it, I said ‘The only thing that could help this place is a match,’” laughs Catherine. “But with this swanky new heater, we’re edging closer towards the transformation we’re hoping for; with a new roof, a new kitchen and bathroom, and everything in between.” Catherine won her prize through a newspaper promotion, which required her to visit The Beauty of Gas website and answer three questions. Given the refurbishment necessary for her new home, she decided to enter the competition while skimming the paper over her morning coffee. “I never thought in a million years I’d win, but I knew it was worth the chance to ease the financial pressure of doing up our new place,” says Moore. “Being dairy farmers, we look forward to our hot showers after a long day’s work, so having instant hot water is the best gift we could receive. And as we move into this stage of semi-retirement, and the sixth year of our children having moved out of home, we’re up for anything that simplifies and enriches our lifestyle.” After 30 years of dairy farming in Silverdale, and six years in Kaiwaka, Moore and her hubby will downsize from a herd of 240 cows to about 60 at their new property close by. When the couple move into the new home in a year’s time, Rinnai will install their water heater. The National Marketing Manager for Rinnai New Zealand, Kathryn Geck, is thrilled to see the pair win the gas hot water appliance. “I’m sure the water heater will take pride of place at the couple’s new home,” she says. “Not only will they enjoy having hot water at the ready, but they’ll no doubt be happy to see the water saving as they use tank water. They will no longer have to run their water for longer as they wait for it to heat up.”
Catherine, who can’t remember the last time she won a competition like this, says it has started the ball rolling for their renovations. |
