Kakariki services getting healthier

 

Dominic Manuel Prakesh 2(copy)Kakariki Health and Wellbeing in Mangawhai has added another important product to it’s repertoire with the arrival of The Bodyworks therapist Dominic Manuel.

While his main practice is located in New Lynn and St Luke’s in Auckland, Dominic has worked in New Lynn and Dargaville with colleague Chris Longley for some time, and now his service is available in Mangawhai on Mondays working from the Kakariki Health Shop.

His forte is in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture and Neuromuscular. Indian born and New Zealand trained, Dominic has a post-graduate degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and bachelor degree in Neuromuscular and Massage. TCM acupuncture is a specialised from of acupuncture and said to have been proven and evolved over 4,500 years.

“This wider variety and combination of treatment options brings a better probability of a successful outcome to problems that fall within the area of musculoskeletal, nervous, hormones, respiratory, digestive, urinary or reproductive disorders," says Dominic.

Dominic has considerable experience in treating performance-related injuries in athletes and sports people but emphasises his treatments also include that of dancers, playground injuries, rehab from operations or just general aches and pains that won’t go away.

“There is no criteria,” he adds “and treatments are adjusted to suit youngsters right up to old people.”

Rheumatics – a winter problem in older joints – to chronic neck and low back pain, migraines and general day-to-day stress, depression and anxiety may also benefit. Soft tissue manipulation helps relieve tension, pain and stiffness and allows a relaxation that encourages the body to heal itself.

Make your own appointment, or referrals from ACC or your own GP are readily accepted.

This now brings services by health professionals at Kakariki to acupuncture, neuromuscular, massage, osteopathy and physiotherapy with also midwife Kate Rankin available for consultation.
