Garden centre sold
Kaiwaka Organics has been sold and is relocating. New owners Korin Wegener and Peter Heywood, who own a health food store in Glen Eden, plan to integrate Kaiwaka Organics into a new complex opening soon in New Lynn, West Auckland. The new complex will incorporate a health food store, café, and garden centre.
Previous Kaiwaka Organics owner, Romi Curl, will also relocate, taking up a position co-managing the complex.
Though the doors to the centre at Kaiwaka have closed, orders are still being taken through the website at kaiwakaorganics.co.nz.
Have Census form ready
After delivering a mammoth 6.4 million census forms to 1.8 million homes, Census collectors are now hitting the streets to pick up those not filled online. Statistics New Zealand has a team of 7,000 trained collectors who will do most of this task over a six week period.
If for some reason you still have not received your Census forms, or if you need extra forms, contact the census Helpline on 0800 CENSUS (0800 236 787).
Everyone who was in New Zealand on the night of March 5 must complete a census form which a legal requirement.
Dry Kaipara faces further restrictions
Long-range weather forecasts indicate that current drought conditions will continue, forcing the Kaipara District Council to extend water restrictions. From February 23 a district-wide hose and sprinkler ban is in force for those connected to public water supplies.
“The continued lack of rain is affecting water supplies,” says John Burt, general manager operations. “This coupled with continuing issues with council’s network infrastructure and capacity means we have had to impose a district-wide ban on the use of sprinklers and hoses.”
Mr Burt says a sizeable fall of rain would be required before council would be able to remove restrictions. Anyone found breaching the restrictions could be liable for a fine of $500.
