Organisers say 'get the girls out!'
They say a woman’s work is never done, and during April 11-13 it’s going to be left undone as fisherwomen assemble at the Marsden Cove Fishing Club for the annual ladies Chic's @ The Chicks fishing competition.
This will be the events fourth year, and the new major sponsor, Marsden Cove’s Waterline Restaurant & Bar has generously donated a $3000 travel voucher. There are many excellent spot prizes, again on ticket draws so fishers or non-fishers can win. Go it alone or ‘get the girls out’ and make up a four- some. You’ll have a ball on the briney. One important addition is the involvement of ‘Legasea’. These are the people who are standing up for our future fishing interests. With sustainable fishing in mind the competition also includes two special catch and release categories so you can still catch, weigh and photograph a winner then do your bit for the good of everyone and toss’em back. It’s a win-win situation. Then on the Saturday night you’ll be entertained by good looking and oh-so-popular Auckland DJ Karn Hall. It’s also dress-up night. This year’s theme is ‘under the waterline’ which could bring out lots of mermaids or who knows what else. There will be great prizes for the best dressed teams and on offer are two weekend stays at Copthorne Omapere. This could be a weekend to remember. |
