Pet food swap to reduce library fines, help SPCA

 

Mangawhai library is providing an opportunity to support the SPCA as they exchange library members’ late return fines for a donation of canned pet food during March.

This is the first year the library has offered an amnesty in exchange for pet food.

Every 400 gram can of pet food donated will remove $3 from fines accumulated for late returns and every 610 gram can will remove $5.

All the cans received will be delivered to the Whangarei branch of the SPCA which looks after the Kaipara District.

Of course you do not have to have fines to contribute to this campaign, all donated pet food cans are welcome.

Community libraries in Dargaville, Kaiwaka, Maungaturoto, Paparoa and Ruawai are also accepting pet food donations.

The pet food for fines amnesty runs for the month of March and only applies to fines, not fees or charges, lost or damaged books.
