Club president leads from front

 

Mangawhai golf club’s esteemed president Mike Howard has been playing golf for some years and up until 2013 had never experience a hole in one. 

While this is something to which all golfers secretly aspire, not a lot can achieve such a goal. 

Mike scored his first hole in one on Mangawhai’s 17th hole on January 17 2013. A great achievement but nothing unusual in that until he again ‘aced’ the same hole in November 2013 – surely more than just good luck. 

But, as if that wasn’t enough to dine out on for some considerable time, Mike achieved an amazing ‘threepeat’ at the same hole again on April 20 this year.

Given Mike’s effervescent nature and good humour, there will probably be many disbelievers when he relates his feat but no doubt it will beam out from the honours board for all to see.

Golfers will no doubt agree that three holes in one at the same hole on the course and in the space of 15 months is an exceptional feat and certainly challenges others who fancy their own ability.
