New president for Federated Farmers NorthlandFollowing Federated Farmers’ Northland AGM, Roger Ludbrook has been elected provincial president after the retirement of Matthew Long. “Northland’s farmers congratulate Matt on what has been an outstanding term,” says Roger Ludbrook, Federated Farmers Northland provincial president. “Matt started his term as I have now – in drought. Realistically Northland does not suffer from a lack on rainfall just the means to store it. Water storage options on-farm and regionally based, are matters Federated Farmers is keen to explore.” While eastern parts of Northland have go though the drought in reasonable shape, towards the west there remains some concern with winter arriving, says Mr Ludbrook, who also takes over at a time with Kaipara District Council in the hands of commissioners so concedes there is a truckload of local government work to be done for farmers by the Federation. “Farmers are at their best when we work together and Federated Farmers has the policy expertise and national presence to best represent Northland’s farmers,” Mr Ludbrook concluded. |
