Leading up to their two year anniversary, an environmentally-focused community organisation is still standing strong in their intention to help Mangawhai reduce, reuse and eradicate single-use, problem plastic. 

The debate over Te Arai sand continues with Mangawhai Harbour Restoration Society (MHRS) stating that McCallum Brothers Ltd (MBL) sand removal plans creates more concerns than comfort.

Until recently it was thought that moth plant was found in a few isolated patches in the Mangawhai area.

 

Mangroves issue challenging
It's great to see a heightened community dialogue happening regarding our Mangawhai estuary and its mangrove population. For far to long, the information base used to determine local mangrove management has been restricted to data supplied on overseas mangroves, residing in tropical and sub tropical environs.
