Dr Vivek Jain and his team at Matakana Dental Care have been working hard in the past three years to help people in the community achieve this. Since its inception in 2016, Matakana Dental Care has been providing high quality, affordable dentistry in a compassionate environment.

Soon after completing his bachelor degree in dentistry from Bangalore, India, Vivek decided to move to New Zealand, completeing the bridging programme at University of Otago School of Dentistry. Starting practising in 2012, he spent time in Wellsford and Snells Beach between 2012-2016 becoming well known among the local community. Starting his own practice in Matakana in June 2016 patient numbers have grown and now the team comprises of two dentists, one hygienist, and four staff members. 

A full scope of general, preventative and cosmetic dentistry is provided at the clinic. Dr Jain has been mentored by some of New Zealand’s leading cosmetic dentists, and continues education nationally and internationally in cosmetic dentistry. But what sets Matakana Dental Care apart is their ability to provide some unique services, like intravenous sedation, Fastbraces, Invisalign, and implants. If you were ever scared of seeing the dentist, then look no further. Dr Jain is a registered intravenous sedation practitioner, registered with the NZ Society of Sedation Dentistry. This means you can rest and relax for all your dental procedures, while he looks after your teeth.

For many patients, young and old, having a straight set of teeth is most desireable. While going to a specialist orthodontist can give you the most perfect results, the cost and time involved with this can be a hurdle. With Fastbraces, mild to moderate issues can be corrected within few months at a much lower price. Invisalign is for those patients who want straight teeth but do not want to wear braces. At a slightly higher cost, you have the choice of straightening your teeth without braces.

Dr Jain went overseas to train and enhance his knowledge in implants, and then got further training under a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Auckland. He now provides implants as a replacement option for missing teeth, so consult with him if you have one, two or more missing teeth, or you have a denture that you are not very happy with.

While these unique services set them apart, the focus is still on high quality, everyday dentistry. All adolescents from year 9 to their 18th birthday enjoy free dental treatment, and all Gold Card holders enjoy a special 10 per cent discount on routine dental procedures – clean, fillings, extractions. 

“One thing that I always hear from my patients is that they do not like being seen by different dentists,” says Dr Jain. “There is a relationship of trust that develops over time and it is not easy for patients to change dentists. We have a dedicated team that has been working with us for some time, and we try our best to maintain a long-lasting relationship with our patients over many, many years. It is for our patient’s convenience that we offer late night and weekend appointments’’.
