Computer windfall for Mangawhai schoolIt’s hard to establish a link between the activities of a primary school and a real estate company but a recent upgrade in profile by Barfoot & Thompson turned into a windfall for Mangawhai Beach School pupils.
The opening of a real estate office at Mangawhai Heads, and subsequent upgrades, led to a call to the school from Auckland Barfoot & Thompson branch manager Saull Hinton and local agent Craig Matheson with the offer of 20 little-used computers. “Overwhelmed” was the response from school principal Aaron Kemp. “Technology plays such an important part in education these days and these things all come at a cost so this is a marvellous gesture from Barfoot & Thompson who are already regular supporters of the school.” This comes close on the heels of the opening of the school’s own radio station so parents can be assured their children are well up with the play when it comes to technology. The Mangawhai Focus was on hand to capture the presentation. Pictured with some very happy pupils are, from left, Saull Hinton, Craig Matheson, and Aaron Kemp. |
