New MRRA committee recommits to causeAt a Special General Meeting on October 20 attended by 200 people, the Mangawhai Ratepayers and Residents Association (MRRA) elected a new executive committee.
The new committee met formally on November 1, appointing Barbara Pengelly to honorary secretary, treasurer Tony Perry, deputy Chair Neil Tolich, and Chair Bruce Rogan. The other committee members are Jan Anderson, John Henderson, Jonathan Larsen, Beverley Revell, and John Wood. A number of sub-committees were established to carry out specific tasks. John Henderson has the communications strategy role, fundraising will be co-ordinated by Neil Tolich, Jan Anderson is undertaking a constitutional review, all banking and financial reporting will be handled by Tony Perry. In the meantime the membership database will continue to be managed by Bruce Rogan. All inwards and outwards correspondence and other record-keeping will be handled by Barbara Pengelly. The new executive committee has donated, between them, over $27,000 to rates litigation costs. The committee resolved to continue the pursuit of a judicial review of past council decisions. Additional funding will be needed. Some will come from an award of costs against the council from the August 2013 High Court hearing (brought by council), and from recovery of GST on outgoings. Readers are asked to go to the revamped MRRA website www.mangawhairatepayers.org for further information. ■ All correspondence should be sent to Barbara Pengelly, mrra.secretary@xtra.co.nz |
