Music Maker hits high noteMusic lovers of all ages gathered recently at Sail Rock Cafe to enjoy the inaugural Mangawhai Music Makers – a monthly get-together for musicians and people who enjoy live music.
A wide variety of music was enjoyed during the evening – everything from blues to light opera, vocal and instrumental. And age is no barrier either proved 12-year-old performer Molly Curnow (pictured) who is a regular performer on stages around the district. For those who would like the opportunity to sing or play, simply turn up and put your name on the blackboard – and of course listeners are equally welcome. A sound system is available for use and there is a resident baby grand piano waiting patiently to be played. Hostess Margaret Fish says there will possibly be more regular sessions over the summer season to cater for holiday-makers who will also be expected to contribute. Held on the first Tuesday of each month, entry is $2 per person. The next session is Tuesday December 3 at 7.30pm. |
