Early free firewood opportunityFor some time the pine trees on the Molesworth Dr/Mangawhai Heads East Rd roundabout have been causing concern both in the area of their proximity to nearby power lines and shedding debris and needles into the gutters and water systems of nearby houses.
In a joint move between Northpower and the Kaipara District Council, the trees will be felled later this month. Smaller debris will be mulched or chipped by Regan and the Orang Otang guys, but the larger timber will be cut into rings and available free to members of the public as an early stash for next winter’s firewood which, when dried out nicely over summer, should be easily split and serve a worthwhile purpose. We know it’s not firewood season but it’s never too early to fill the woodbox. |
