Gold coin for Art n Tartan exhibitionAn exciting Art n Tartan Wearable Art Exhibition will be held during Labour Weekend in the Waipu Celtic Barn – home of Waipu’s popular annual wearable arts show.
The exhibition will run on Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 2pm and entry will be by gold coin donation. The exhibition will feature more than 20 costumes that were part of the 2015 show, including the winner of the Supreme Award, ‘Scottish Hill Trow’ by Annie Newall and the stunning ‘Liquid Courage’ by Aimee Tomes created from over 20,000 can tabs. Footage of the sell-out 2015 show will play at the exhibition. This is a great chance to see the amazing detail and artistry of each of the costumes, talk to some of the designers and meet the team of organisers and volunteers who work together to produce the show each year. It is hoped that the event will inspire artists and designers to think about next year’s show as the museum prepares Art n Tartan 2016. Next year’s entry form will be launched at the exhibition and visitors can take the opportunity to ask any questions or let the museum team know if they are interested in taking part. The museum is looking for people to be part of the organising team and it is hoped that new volunteers will bring exciting and innovative ideas to the event. If you are interested in joining the team and help with the putting together of this iconic show please email Mo Pettit – artntartan@gmail.com. |
