Ag Day signals start of summer

On Labour weekend Saturday Mangawhai Beach School again hosts locals and visitors at its annual Agricultural & Gala Day.

The family fun day has a long-stand-ing history in bringing town and country together and a tradition of weird and wonderful entertainment that covers all sectors of the community.

Good old-fashioned fun includes music, raffles, auctions, competitions, lots of games and activities, food stalls and of course the annual calf and lamb show which starts at 9am.

And there’s always more: bouncy castles, cake stalls, bric-a-brac, coconut shy, sponge throwing, face painting, fruzo, horse and pony rides, plate smash, and the popular pet corner.

The event is Mangawhai Beach School’s major fundraiser for 2014 with money going towards much needed on-going support of student learning and educational growth through teacher aides and classroom learning resources.
