Coastal gift will protect Te Arai coast
A conservation reserve, similar in size to Auckland’s Cornwall Park and located on prime coastal land at Te Arai, has been gifted to Auckland Council as part of a development plan by Te Uri o Hau and Te Arai Coastal Lands.

Builder hangs up his hammer
After a lifetime working tirelessly as a builder and then director of Brogan Builders, Kelvin James has retired.
Kelvin left school at the age of 15 and went straight to work for Derry Brogan, the original proprietor of Brogan Builders, working from their Maungaturoto base.
Final consent for Puhoi-Warkworth RoNS
The NZ Transport Agency welcomes the final decision from a Board of inquiry (Boi) to grant designation and resource consents for the construction of the Puhoi to Warkworth stage of the Ara Tuhono – Puhoi to Wellsford Road of National Significance (RoNS).

Kiwi chicks herald spring
Spring in the Brynderwyns has been heralded by the arrival of two kiwi chicks, hatched in Marunui Conservation’s covenanted bush. Parents, Tahuhu and Beverley, who produced one of last year’s two nests, have clearly confirmed their partnership.
Songbird scoops singing trophy
Mangawhai’s Molly Curnow was thrilled to recently win the Heather Blyth Trophy, awarded to the girl with the highest singing marks at the recent Northland Performing Arts Festival held at Forum North in Whangarei.

Celtic music all the way from Canada features in a concert to be given by the Boxwood Trio in Kaiwaka next month.
Northland win some, lose some
Kaiwaka Sports Association recently hosted two representative rugby matches. First was an U13s Roller Mills match between Northland and Thames Valley. There was a mixed bag of weather but the boys coped well with the changing conditions.
