Cape breton music to drift through KaiwakaCeltic music all the way from Canada features in a concert to be given by the Boxwood Trio in Kaiwaka next month. The famous ensemble, from Nova Scotia, holds a music school and performs concerts at Waipu every spring; this year they are coming to Kaiwaka too. The trio – featuring David Greenberg on violin, Chris Norman on flute, and Shelley Phillips on harp and oboe – will play Cape Breton Celtic (a mixture of Scottish, Acadian, Irish and French Canadian music) and 18th century baroque. Described by some as 'the consummate entertainment package' Boxwood has received rave reviews both in NZ and overseas. The evening will be a rare opportunity for music lovers to hear something different as well as beautiful. Boxwood will perform at the Absurdistan community, 317A Parekura Road, Kaiwaka, at 7.30pm, Saturday October 4. Tickets $15 from the Kaiwaka Cheese Shop or $20 at the door.
