KSA Sports BriefsPortrait Fundraiser
I am organising a portrait sitting day with photographers Jack 'n' Jill Portraits as a fundraiser for the Kaiwaka Sports Association. For just $10 you will receive a professional sitting and a 10”x13” colour (or black and white) photo of your family valued at $79. The photographers will be at the Kaiwaka Sports Complex on Sunday September 29. You can check out samples of Jack 'n' Jill portraits on their website www.jacknjill.co.nz. Family portraits are a wonderful keepsake and with Christmas not too far away are also a great gift idea! To make a booking, please get in touch with me (contact details below.) Rugby On Saturday September 28 we will host an U18 rep match – King Country vs Vikings. Kickoff will be at 1pm and spectators are welcome. Gymnastics Gymnastics Otamatea was proud to host the Otamatea Schools GymFest on September 2&3. Seven schools participated in school visits prior to this and six competed in the competition. The event was run by over 25 volunteers and gave children the opportunity to have a fun gymnastics experience. Thanks especially to the Kaiwaka Sports Association, Sport Northland, Gymsport NZ and ASB for their invaluable support. We are pleased to announce that the winning school was Tomarata School. Martial arts Following on from the popularity of its classes, our martial arts club is starting up a new Tai Chi class. This will be held out of our gymnasium on Wednesday mornings, 7–8am. The club is currently offering free introductory classes for both Tai Chi and Kempo (spaces are limited). The club is also now taking enrolments for Term 4. For all martial arts enquiries please contact instructor Craig Bennetts on 431 5170 or otamateakempo@slingshot.co.nz. General managers course New legislation coming into effect on December 18 requires all staff serving alocohol on licensed premises to hold a general managers certificate. We are hosting a course at the Kaiwaka Sports Complex for people who wish to gain this qualification, on Sunday October 20, 8.30–5.30pm, $225 per person. Spaces are limited. To register, please contact me. Touch I am considering running a Touch module at the Sports Complex over the summer, but am wanting to gauge interest in the idea first. The module would be over 10 weeks, probably on a Sunday afternoon, and would be a casual, friendly competition for mixed teams of men, women and teenagers. If you might be interested in participating please let me know (contact details below.) Venue hire Did you know that our venue is available for hire? We cater for weddings, conferences, parties, corporate events etc and provide a quality venue complete with bar, kitchen, a spacious lounge with dance floor, covered deck, plenty of parking, and all at a very reasonable rate. Our bar features reasonably priced alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and we can provide catering – anything from morning tea to full event catering. We also hire out our kitchen at $10 per hour for groups who require a commercially licensed kitchen for food preparation. Kaipara Sports Awards Nominations are now open for the 2013 Kaipara Sports Awards, which this year will be held at the Maungaturoto Country Club on Saturday November 9. This is a Halloween inspired evening where children dress up in scary costumes, there's music, dancing and games, parents bring 'spooky' food for supper and the children can take a walk through the haunted house! Mark it in your diary – Saturday November 2. More details to come. ■ Cheryl Anderson, Kaiwaka Sports Assoc. manager, 431 2051 |
