Boxwood teaches holistic approach to music and dance

Boxwood NZ 2013 returns to Waipu for a week-long educational program for adults and children focused on Cape Breton, Scottish, Irish and French music. 

Boxwood is a non-profit charitable organisation based in Canada and the USA that aims to provide opportunities for the dissemination, sharing, presentation and celebration of traditional music, helping individuals to reach their potential and enriching and strengthening local communities through music and dance. 

The Boxwood Week takes place at a variety of venues in the Waipu village and surrounding area including classes in Lang’s Beach, a lively Monday night Scottish Country Dance at the Coronation Hall, and finale concert on Friday October 4, 7.30pm, also at the Coronation Hall in Waipu.  

Classes will be led by Nova Scotian musicians Chris Norman (flutes, pipes, voice) and David Greenberg (fiddle) attracting students of all ages the length and breadth of New Zealand, as well as Australia.
