Ruakaka Races: Where the turf meets he surfUnwind from Christmas and New Year at the iconic Interislander Summer Festival Ruakaka Races, January 3, 2014, where you will enjoy thrilling thoroughbred racing action along with live music and free children’s entertainment.
Ruakaka Racecourse is in one of the country’s most idyllic racing locations. Enjoy a relaxed family day with views of the racing and the beach all at the one spot. Kids will be spoilt for choice with a big slide, bouncy castle and More FM Kids Go Racing activities (catering for under 12’s) with colouring-in competitions, goodie bags and children’s events, leaving mum and dad free to kick back, relax and soak up the atmosphere. Enjoy live music from Auckland muso’s Sam Allen and Matt Na’nai in the outdoor Gravel Bar whilst indulging in local and seasonal fare from our on-site caterers A’Fare or the many stalls in the food court. A big screen TV will showcase the racing and days events and remember to bring your togs as the Ruakaka Surf Patrol will be patrolling the race course beach between 1pm and 3pm. Free return buses will be running from Whangarei City and outlying suburbs, also from the Ruakaka Beach Motor Camp and Marsden Cove Marina. Entry: $10 Adults and free admission for under 18 years.
